TWO elderly men have died in separate workplace accidents in the Republic.

A man in his seventies was seriously injured while working on a building at a quarry in Tamlet, Co Monaghan, at around 10am on Monday

He was taken to Cavan General Hospital where he later died.

A man in his eighties died in a farming accident at Adamstown in Co Wexford at around 11.20am on Monday.

His body was taken to University Hospital Waterford. A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out within the next few days.

The Health and Safety Authority is investigating both deaths.
