West Belfast shooting was a reckless act

It is only by good fortune that a woman and a five-year-old child managed to escape injury after shots were fired at a house in west Belfast on Wednesday night.

The 27-year-old woman and her young cousin were left shocked by the attack which took place at Aitnamona Crescent.

It is believed a high-powered handgun was used in this incident and bullets hit both downstairs living room windows and were also aimed at a bedroom window.

Clearly, this was an entirely reckless attack in a densely populated area which could have had tragic consequences.

Anyone who can assist the police in apprehending whoever was responsible for this shooting must come forward as a matter of urgency.
