Boost for Ballycastle camogs

A Dublin sportswear firm's donation of a new set of jerseys to the members of Ballycastle Camogie Club after their old playing gear, together with a range of personal possessions, was stolen from their team bus close to Croke Park, was a welcome gesture.

It was also notable that the Balon company declined the opportunity to have its logo carried on the kit, allowing the transplant charity Live Loudly Donate Proudly to be given the platform instead.

As a result, the opportunities associated with an important health initiative will be highlighted on every occasion that the Ballycastle camogs take to the field in Co Antrim and elsewhere.

The episode demonstrated that, with a degree of generosity and imagination across the board, even a mean-spirited criminal act can have strongly positive consequences.
