Young boxer Caoimhin Hynes very nearly lost his life in an horrific incident when his throat was slashed during an unprovoked attack in Belfast city centre last year.
He feared that, even if he survived, his sporting career was over at the age of 21, but he has completed a remarkable comeback by winning an Irish national championship in Dublin.
Caoimhin, from the Holy Trinity club in west Belfast, is now considering an ambitious switch to the professional ranks.
After the courage and determination he displayed in the course of his recovery from the stabbing, further notable achievements in the ring may well lie ahead.
