Regret over damage to Rostrevor church

There will be considerable regret over the damage caused by an apparent vandalism attack on the historic bell tower clock of Kilbroney Church of Ireland Church at Rostrevor in Co Down.

Reports suggest that perpetrators scaled the scaffolding put in place while extensive work is being carried out to restore the roof of the building, which is almost 200 years old.

As we report today, residents in the area from both traditions contributed to the project which also received a major grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Community relations in the village have always been positive and it will be hoped that the clock can be fully repaired as soon as possible.
