Deserved honour for Kevin Bell charity

The praise offered by the British prime minister, Theresa May, to the Newry-based Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund is fully justified and will be widely appreciated.

Mrs May personally nominated the charity, which was set up by Colin and Eithne Bell in honour of their 26-year-old son who died in a New York road traffic accident five years ago, for a prestigious Point of Light award.

It has helped to bring home the bodies of almost 500 other people who died overseas in equally tragic circumstances, and similar initiatives are in the process of being established in England, Scotland and Wales.

The contribution made by Mr and Mrs Bell has been exceptional and their work has become a worthy tribute to their late son.
