Unique project boosts little Maisie Colhoun

The transformation experienced by little Maisie Colhoun since she took part in a unique animal therapy project in Co Derry has been truly inspirational.

Maisie, who has Down's syndrome, spent her first three months in intensive care with a range of serious health issues and, even after major surgery, could not sit up properly at the age of five.

However, as we reported yesterday, her weekly sessions on horseback at Gortilea social farm in Claudy have brought about improvements which have been described as life-changing.

There are hopes that Maisie may soon walk independently, and everyone involved in the initiative, which was supported by the Big Lottery Fund, deserves the highest praise.
