Ireland, north and south, has a particularly diverse newspaper industry, with a range of outlets which have served their readers well over many decades.
The longest established, and indeed the oldest continuously published daily title in the world, is the Belfast-based News Letter, dating back to 1737.
There was concern when its publisher, Johnston Press, went into administration in recent days, but it has since been confirmed that a new overall operating company has been put in place.
The News Letter has an important role to play both in journalism and civil society, and there will be a widespread hope that its revised management structures help to secure its future.
