Fermanagh Intermediate Football Championship final: St Molaise’s, Irvinestown 1-12 Teemore Shamrocks 1-9
IRVINESTOWN secured a first Fermanagh IFC title since 2011 thanks to a 20-minute spell either side of half-time.
Teemore had started the brighter and after 20 minutes an Eoin McManus penalty saw them lead 1-4 to 0-3. However, Irvinestown finished the half stronger with points from Liam McQuaid, Stephen Sheridan and former Ardboe star Ronan Campbell to go in level at the break, 0-7 to 1-4.
Irvinestown added a goal in the 38th minute when James Duffy was on hand to fire to the net and further points from Duffy, Ronan Ormsby and Kevin McDonnell extended their lead.
Teemore finished with a flurry of scores from substitutes Sean Curry, Paul Martin and McManus but player/manager and former Fermanagh star Shane Goan’s side deservedly held on to win as a sea of green and yellow swept onto Brewster Park at the full-time whistle.
Next up for Irvinestown are the Antrim champions on November 1 in the Ulster IFC, where they will face Dunloy, Gort na Mona, Glenavy or Rasharkin.
