TYRONE claimed their first point of the new league season this afternoon, fighting back from seven points down to draw 1-10 to 1-10 against Roscommon at Dr Hyde Park.
The wind-assisted Rossies led 0-10 to 0-4 at the break, with all 10 points coming from play, but were outscored by the Red Hands in the second period.
Armagh came back from Navan empty handed though as Meath emerged six point winners. The Royals were nine to the good at the interval, and although Armagh staged something of a second half rally, they ran out 2-13 to 0-13 victors.
There were also defeats for Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan and Antrim. Declan Bonner’s side were beaten 3-9 to 0-13 by Tipperary, Cavan lost 1-13 to 0-11 to Mayo on Saturday night, Monaghan lost 0-11 to 1-9 to Galway and Antrim were pipped 0-14 to 1-10 away to Leitrim.
The only Ulster sides to win this weekend were Down, Fermanagh and Derry.
Paddy Tally’s men squeaked through against Westmeath at Pairc Else on Saturday night, the game ending 0-10 to 0-9, while Derry, who had Jason Rocks and Conor McAtamney dismissed in the second half, needed a strong finish to see off Waterford 2-13 to 1-8.
The Ernesiders earned their first win so far with a 0-8 to 0-6 home defeat of Kildare on Saturday evening.
Also on Saturday evening, All-Ireland Club title hopes ended for the hurlers of Castleblayney and Cushendall, and an incredible journey ended in a the heartache of a football final defeat for Belfast's St Enda's (Glengormley).
Kerry and Munster champions Kilcummin stood between them and the Holy Grail at Croke Park in Dublin.
In the last, dramatic act of St Enda's exhilarating season, their Kerry opponents proved too strong.
