Markey Cup quarter-final: St Malachy’s, Castlewellan 0-12 Loreto CS, Milford 0-5
The Irish News, Wednesday December 16 2009: St Malachy’s flex muscles in Loreto tie: St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan proved too strong for Loreto Community School, Milford in their Ulster Bank Vocational Schools Markey Cup quarter final in Dromore.
Despite severe pressure a stubborn St Malachy’s defence, manned by a strong half-back line in Shea O’Hanlon, Ciaran McClean and Conor Cunningham refused to be overcome.
Darragh O’Hanlon was focused for the winners at midfield, while, up front, Conor Megoran, Ollie McClean and Pat McKenny looked sharp.
Joe Gallagher, Oisin Barrett and Ryan Ferry were outstanding in the Loreto defence, with Luke Barrett impressive at midfield.
In attack, full-forwards Chris McCafferty, Chris Barrett and Barry McNamee worked hard.
