KILDARE and Jack O’Connor warmed up for the National League with a narrow win over the Barrowsiders in what was a dead rubber at Carlow IT. Chris Byrne netted at the death to give the Lilywhites a three-point victory.
Wicklow 2-9 Longford 0-14
WICKLOW left it late to see off a Longford side already assured of a last-four spot in Aughrim. A Rory Finn goal from the penalty spot had the Garden county ahead by the bare minimum at the break. The second-half was nip and tuck until Chris O’Brien goaled from the rebound with just seconds left after a shot from Dan Keane dropped short.
Offaly 2-12 Wexford 1-7
JOHN Maughan's Offaly were too strong for Wexford at Faithful Fields. First-half goals from Cian Johnson and Conor McNamee set up Offaly’s victory, while Mick Molloy raised a green flag for Paul Galvin's outfit after the break.
Westmeath 1-13 Louth 0-11
A RONAN Wallace goal on the half-hour mark gave the Lake county a four-point advantage going into the break at Drogheda. John Heslin, Kieran Martin and Callum McCormack kicked over vital second-half points to seal the victory and a semi-final spot for Westmeath.
Meath 4-16 Laois 1-15
THE Royals were too good for Laois at Páirc Tailteann as they picked up their first win of the campaign. Shane Walsh, Seán Tobin, Jack O'Connor and Ronan Ryan all found the net for the home side, while Evan O’Carroll scored Laois’ only goal.

Dublin 3-20 Carlow 0-18
ÉAMONN Dillon hit the net twice in the opening 11 minutes for Dublin as they dismissed Carlow. Although the Barrowsiders dragged themselves back into contention with eight unanswered points, Donal Burke added a third major for the Dubs to put the game beyond them.
Westmeath 2-17 Laois 1-12
JOEY Boyle’s first-half goal helped Westmeath to victory in their round-robin game at Borris-in-Ossory. Westmeath stretched their lead in the second-half, with Darragh Clinton’s major putting the result beyond doubt.
Kehoe Cup semi-final
Offaly 8-18 Meath 3-18
Oisín Kelly struck four majors for Offaly as they set up a Kehoe Cup final against Antrim in a goal-fest at Birr. Offaly led by 5-10 to 2-11 at the halfway stage as Kelly (2), Liam Langton and Seán Cleary (2) all raised green flags. Kelly and Langton were again on target after the break.
FBD League quarter-final
Sligo 0-14 Roscommon 1-15
ROSCOMMON led by five at the break in Markievicz Park, but Conor Griffin’s impressive score from a mark early in the second period led to a Sligo fightback. While Paddy O'Connor’s score brought Paul Taylor’s men to back within a point, a blocked cross-field pass gave Roscommon a three-on-one opening and Cian McKeon finished to the net for a decisive score.
McGrath Cup
Tipperary 1-13 Kerry 1-11
AN experimental Kerry side went down to defeat in Clonmel as Tipperary proved the more eager competitors in what was a McGrath Cup dead rubber. Tipp were fastest out of the block, with Conor Sweeney singlehandedly putting them into a 1-2 to 0-0 lead. Tipperary led by six at the break and never relinquished their grip on the game. Paul O’Shea, a cousin of David Clifford, was impressive with three points from play. Kerry boss John Sugrue deployed a side made up predominantly of U20 players, many of whom featured in the John Kerins Cup loss to Cork 24 hours earlier.
Clare 3-14 Waterford 3-7
CLARE and Waterford played out a high-scoring encounter at Miltown-Malbay – another game with nothing riding on the outcome. Waterford led by four at half-time, but a brace of second-half goals from Gavin Cooney turned the game on its head.
Munster Hurling League
Limerick 1-27 Clare 1-19
LIMERICK progressed to the Munster Hurling League final with an impressive win over Clare in Sixmilebridge. The reigning Munster champions shot out of the blocks, racking up 0-11 in the opening quarter. Clare rallied and the gap was narrowed to four by the break. However, David Reidy's 57th minute goal effectively settled the game in the visitors’ favour. Aron Shanagher's spectacular late goal was a consolation.
Waterford 4-23 Kerry 1-10
WATERFORD had little difficulty in dismissing the challenge of Kerry in Austin Stack Park. Calum Lyons, Stephen Bennett, Darragh Lyons and Dessie Hutchinson grabbed the goals as they ran out easy winners.
