THE Camogie Association has announced the dates and format for the various inter-county All-Ireland championship.

The Senior championship will begin on Saturday, July 17 and run through to All-Ireland finals day on Sunday, September 12. The Intermediate and Premier Junior championships will begin a week later and also finish on September 12.

There are 12 teams in the All-Ireland senior title-race including Down and these teams will be divided across three groups, each of four teams, with two of the group winners progressing directly into the semi-finals on August 28 and 29. The third group winner plus those placed second in each group will go into the quarter-finals a week earlier.

There will be relegation from the Senior championship between the teams placed fourth in each group.

There are also 12 teams in the All-Ireland Intermediate championship including last season’s runners-up Antrim and neighbours Derry. This competition will follow the same format and time-line as the Senior championship, with relegation also incorporated into the schedule.

The Premier Junior championship will see the 2020 champions Armagh defending their title against nine other competitors including beaten finalists Cavan and reserve teams from Down and Antrim.

The format and timeline are similar to the Senior and Intermediate competitions. The draws for all three competitions will take place in the next couple of weeks.
