DARYL Gurney - who shook up the darts world by whitewashing the great Michael van Gerwen in the big-money BoyleSports World Grand Prix in Leicester this week - was edged out 3-2 by Yorkshireman Joe Cullen on Thursday night with a place in the last eight at stake.
The Derry arrow ace had produced a superb display to dump three-time World champion Van Gerwen out of the £600,000 showpiece on Tuesday night. The 38-year-old will take home £15,000 for his efforts.
The World number 26 - who won the tournament in 2017 when it was staged in Dublin - won the first set against Cullen but couldn’t shake off the man from Bradford.
Belcoo’s Brendan Dolan and Broughshane’s Josh Rock both exited on Monday night.
