Derry's Daryl Gurney beat Michael van Gerwen on Tuesday night at World Grand Prix

DARYL Gurney produced a superb display to dump three-time World champion Michael van Gerwen out of the big-money BoyleSports World Grand Prix in Leicester on Tuesday night without dropping a leg.

The Derry arrow ace - who won the tournament in 2017 when it was staged in Dublin - was a worthy 2-0 (3-0, 3-0) winner over the Dutch legend, securing his place in the last 16 of the £600,000 showpiece.

The 38-year-old World number 26 is back in action on Thursday night.

Belcoo’s Brendan Dolan and Broughshane’s Josh Rock both exited on Monday night.
