CRUMLIN Star celebrated their third NAFL Border Cup success under boss Paul Trainor yesterday with a nail-biting 1-0 win over Co Down men Drumaness Mills at Seaview.

In a game of few clear-cut chances, 'Star striker James Doyle grabbed the crucial goal in first-half stoppage-time, bundling the ball home from close range with his chest after good approach play from Aidan McNeill and Kevin Lynch.

Earlier in the half, Joe McNeill hit the crossbar for the Ardoyne men as Drumaness struggled to find any rhythm in their play.

Jack Sharvin spurned Drumaness's best chance of the afternoon soon after the restart when his clipped effort went over Crumlin Star's crossbar.

Defender Brendan O'Neill and midfielder Niall Hawkins were the pick of Crumlin Star's performers as they saw out yesterday's final and were unlucky not to add a couple more goals to their tally.
