CAVAN duo Dara McVeety and Conor Moynagh have won their appeals against the red cards they received in the angry aftermath of the Breffnimen’s Qualifier win over Down last Saturday night.

Referee Cormac Reilly sent both Cavan players off – along with Down’s Anthony Doherty – after the mass brawl that followed the final whistle at Brewster Park. But at a hearing last night it was found that the infraction against them had not been proven and so both have been cleared to face Tyrone (again at Brewster Park) tomorrow evening.

The news comes as a massive boost to Tyrone native McGleenan whose side was often second best against Down but scraped through to round three of the Qualifiers by two points.
