JORDANSTOWN freshers remain on course for a hat-trick of Freshers A and B football titles after the A side defeated UCC in the semifinal by 2-17 to 1-11 in Dublin yesterday.
Tyrone’s Stephen Donnelly helped himself to eight points while Armagh forward Oliver Goughran scored 1-3 with Gavin Wylie grabbing 1-1. The Poly led by 0-8 to 0-5 at half-time, Donnelly getting four first-half points and Brian McGuigan, Aidan Lynch, Wylie and Antrim midfielder Paddy Logan getting the other scores.
Cork’s lethal corner-forward Noel Duignan got three first-half frees along the way to netting an individual tally of 1-6 for the Munster men. Jordanstown continued to dominate after the break and three unanswered points early in the second-half sent then on their way.
Gavin Wylie got the first Poly goal at the end of a five man move involving McKeever and Lynch. Cork however replied immediately with a penalty at the other end converted by Duignan.

ALLSTAR Sean Martin Lockhart will make his first start for Derry since the All-Ireland semi-final in Sunday’s match against league leaders Meath.
The Oak Leafers, who haven’t won a match since July’s Ulster final, have brought back the big guns in an attempt to kickstart their faltering league campaign in Navan.
Lockhart returns in the left corner having recovered from the toe injury which has ruled him out for several months, while Emmett McKeever is also recalled at centre half-back.
Johnny McBride moves from that position to midfield alongside Enda Muldoon, who was also missing last time out.

The return of Cavlan is sure to add further spark to a forward line which impressed against Donegal, with Peter Canavan and Mattie McGleenan excelling two weeks ago.
