RELEGATION-threatened Mayobridge are on the lookout for a new manager after Fergal Reel stepped down earlier this week.
The sleeping Down giants had struggled in the league so far this term, winning just four of their 11 games to date, leaving them in joint 8th place and just two points clear of bottom pair Ballyholland and Bryansford.
The bottom side are relegated at the end of the campaign, with the 9th and 10th placed teams also playing off.
In his first season in charge, Reel – who won four Louth SFC titles with St Pat’s - was assisted by Colin Laverty.
Mayobridge reached the championship semi-final last year but were over-run by Burren in the second half as they fell in their bid for a first title since 2008.
They are hoping to have a replacement in place next week, although it’s understood that former player and manager Benny Coulter is not in the frame despite Down’s exit from the All-Ireland series.
Another former Mourne star and past player and manager with Mayobridge, Mickey Walsh, is also understood to be an unlikely candidate due to other commitments.
