Fermanagh ratings

Sean McNally: Tested by a Hail Mary early on and kept a cool head. Brilliant save from Kieran Duffy’s shot and was back on his feet quickly but couldn’t keep out McCarron’s follow-up. 6

Kane Connor: The Bellnaleck defender put in a good shift. He tracked Jack McCarron and then Colin Walshe. McCarron’s physicality caused him problems and Walshe’s fresh legs saw him score twice in the closing stages. 6.5

Jonny Cassidy: A shove in McCarron’s back gifted McManus an early free but the Inniskeen youngster battled hard at the heart of the Fermanagh defence. Restricted McManus to a point from play and got one himself. 6.5

Luke Flanagan: A whole-hearted competitor who shared sweeping duties with McCusker. He shadowed the pacey Stephen O’Hanlon and kept him scoreless. 6.5

Declan McCusker: Spare man in defence at times. Found the going tough as Monaghan runners burst through the Erne county rearguard from all angles. 5.5

James McMahon: Picked up Bannigan. Did what he could to start Fermanagh breakouts from the back and earned two frees for Quigley with his direct running. 6

Kevin McDonnell: Worked hard to track Aaron Mulligan early on, he was replaced by Aidan Breen after 26 minutes. 5.5

Stephen McGullion: In the thick of the action in the midfield battle. Competed well without being able to win primary possession for his team. Had a spell at full-forward too. 6

Eoin Donnelly: Three years ago he was Fermanagh’s goal-scoring hero. Pushed up from midfield again on Saturday but didn’t have the same impact. Typically committed and denied McManus a goal late in the game. 6.5

Ciaran Corrigan: An exquisite curling effort was the highlight for the Maguiresbridge forward. Can claim an assist for McGurn score but couldn't break free of Ryan Wylie. 5.5

Cian McManus: Lost Conor McCarthy once and the Scotstown forward scored a mark. Apart from that incident, he won the battle. 6.5

Josh Largo-Ellis: His display was one of the positives for Fermanagh on Saturday. Covered a lot of ground, always showed for the ball and looks to have the tools to enjoy better days ahead. Got a point as well. 6.5

Ultan Kelm: Fumble under pressure denied him a goal-scoring opportunity. He managed a second half point but couldn’t match the tenacious workrate of the Monaghan half-back line. 5.5

Dara McGurn: Lacked support up front and found himself isolated. Scored a first half point but lost Duffy in build-up to Monaghan goal. 5.5

Sean Quigley: Top-scored with seven points, three wides but excellent from placed balls. Tried an audacious chip in the first half. His marker Conor Boyle equalled his one-point from open play. 6

Subs:

Aidan Breen: Replaced McDonnell and scored two points. Should have started. 6

Richard O’Callaghan: In at midfield but couldn’t turn the tide. 5.5

Sean Cassidy: On for McManus after an hour with the result decided. 5.5

Mark McCauley: Not on long enough to be rated.

Tiarnan Bogue: Not on long enough to be rated.
