Loughinisland became the first team through to the semi-finals of the Down Senior Championship as they saw off Castlewellan with eight points to spare.
As expected, Loughinisland were the stronger of the two teams and had already defeated their opponents once in the earlier stages of the competition.
That game ended 1-12 to 1-9 but this one, played in Liatroim, wasn’t as competitive or as high scoring.
It was a pretty slow affair early on, with the favourites just getting their noses ahead at the end of the opening quarter to lead 2-1.
Corner back Dean McLoughlin netted to stretch their advantage to seven by the halfway stage, with the score now 1-5 to 0-1.
Loughinisland, managed by former Castlewellan player Kevin Duffin, remained on top for the rest of the contest as the sides more or less matched each other score for score during the second period.
