DERRY and Ulster champions Glen will face Kilrea when the knock-out stages of the Derry SFC begin on Saturday.
Yesterday saw the conclusion of the group stages, with Magherafelt also topping their section. They will meet Ballinascreen in the last eight.
Slaughtneil will take on Bellaghy, while Lavey’s win over Swatragh secured second spot and a mouth-watering tie with Newbridge.
It comes after the final twists and turns of the group stages left Kilrea in fourth spot in Group B on Saturday night.
A late Glenn McOscar goal, with virtually the last play, saw Ballinderry sink Steelstown (1-7 to 0-8) at home on Saturday afternoon.
The three Group B games were staggered and it left Kilrea knowing a win at Loup would be enough.
They were 0-6 to 0-2 in arrears at half-time before quickfire goals from Peadar McLaughlin and Paddy Quigg turned the game. Loup were left chasing and came up short, 2-5 to 0-10.
Earlier in the day, Newbridge got the point they needed from a 0-15 to 2-9 home draw with Magherafelt.
The ‘Bridge were three points ahead before a 13th-minute Eoin McEvoy penalty tied the game.
It was point for point until Shane Heavron flicked a Simon McErlain delivery to the net for a 2-3 to 0-7 lead early in the second half.
Conor Doherty, who kicked eight points in all, Conor McAteer, Conor and Paudi McGrogan replied with scores for the home side.
Niall and Dan Higgins hit back with scores for Magherafelt who looked like they’d push on for victory.
Mark Doherty kicked an excellent equaliser before older brother Conor edged the ‘Bridge ahead but it was goalkeeper Odhrán Lynch who tied the game with a last gasp 45.
Lavey were 2-16 to 1-10 winners over Swatragh yesterday with Niall Toner’s goal helping them to a 1-6 to 0-7 interval lead.
Three points from Ryan Mulholland helped put Lavey in control but they needed a fine Jack Scullion save to deny Francis Kearney.
Conor McAtamney battled gamely for the Davitt’s but Lavey were the slicker team as the game wore on.
Niall Toner hit a late penalty before Anton Tohill flicked home Swatragh’s goal with the last action of the game.
Glen were 4-13 to 1-10 winners at home to Bellaghy to finish the group stages with a 100 per cent record.
Goals from Danny Tallon (2) and Ethan Doherty had the champions 3-5 to 0-5 ahead by half-time.
Convery finished off a fine move for Glen’s goal early in the second half, with Oisin McErlean netting late on for the Tones.
With a scoring difference of -21 before a ball was kicked, it was a tall order for Dungiven to make the quarter-finals.
They led Coleraine 1-3 to 0-1 with their goal coming from Kevin Johnston but the home side were back level (1-5 each) by half-time.
It was a tightly contested second half before a Coleraine breakaway was finished to the net by Dara Mooney for a 2-9 to 1-9 win.
The rescheduled Ballinderry and Loup game (Wednesday, 7pm) will finalise the relegation play-off pairings.
The bottom team in Group B – Loup or Ballinderry – will face Swatragh with the team finishing in sixth place taking on Coleraine.
