Gary Carson: Colin Keane and Noel Meade can double up for Bellewstown success

Lethimfly and Sugar Club have great chances for jockey/trainer partnership

Colin Keane teams up with Noel Meade for a couple of rides on the card at Bellewstown on Thursday evening and both look to have big shouts.

Lethimfly wouldn’t be winning out of turn in the auction series maiden after a couple of good efforts.

The Ribchester colt was fourth in a tight finish at Cork on his penultimate start and that form has worked out well.

Both the second and third have won since and in fact he chased home runner-up Fiery Lucy when she scored at Fairyhouse last month.

The six furlongs then suited the winner better than him and dropping back to five now should help Lethimfly.

With an official mark of 78 he sets the standard and this looks like a nice opportunity to get his head in front.

The obvious danger of those that have run is the top-weight Sharkii.

Diego Dias’s charge stayed on to finish third to Shamrock Breeze on his debut at Down Royal and has a little bit to find on that form.

Shamrock Breeze was the third horse home in the aforementioned Cork maiden and was only a head in front of Lethimfly that day.

In the opening fillies’ maiden over just shy of a mile Keane gets the leg up on Sugar Club.

This daughter of Inns Of Court kept on nicely, late on, when third on her debut at Leopardstown last month.

She may be able to confirm that form with the sixth horse home, Now.

Money for newcomers in the field would be significant and the Ger Lyons-trained Luscious looks one to note.

The best race on the card is the concluding amateur race over a mile-and-a-half and it looks hard to oppose Enniskerry.

Barry Connell’s charge was an easy winner on his return to the Flat at Listowel early last month and the handicapper has given him a decent mark of 98.

This could be a nice warm up for him ahead of another tilt at the Galway Plate.

Eagle’s Way is rated only a pound inferior and gets a nice pull at the weights with Dara McGill taking 7lb off his back.

The Gleneagles gelding was well beaten when tried over hurdles at Punchestown last month and it remains to be seen if he can live up to the Flat rating, which he achieved in England last year.
