Travel Ireland Coaches Antrim Senior Camogie Championship round four
Dunloy v Cushendall (Saturday, 4pm)
Loughgiel v Brídíní Óga Glenravel (Sunday, 2pm)
DUNLOY, Loughgiel and Cushendall are all on two wins each in the Antrim senior championship with just two rounds of group games remaining.
Loughgiel and Cushendall have had just two outings, while Dunloy lost their opening game to the Shamrocks.
The Cúchulainn’s will complete their programme on Saturday afternoon with the visit of Cushendall.
If they win they will more than likely finish second in the group, but a loss would probably leave next week’s head-to-head between Cushendall and Loughgiel sorting out the top two spots.
Cushendall and Dunloy have both beaten Ballycastle and Brídíní Óga in the last fortnight.
While Cushendall came away from both games with comfortable wins, Dunloy struggled to edge out Ballycastle last Sunday evening. They could easily have been caught out with a draw or worse.
Both teams are in the process of bringing through talented underage players, with Dunloy a little further down the line in that respect.
Cushendall used no fewer than eight teenagers last weekend, with stalwarts like Colleen Patterson, Orlagh O’Hara and Siobhán McKillop to guide them through.
Dunloy’s younger players are more in the 19-21 age group and have a little more experience with Cassie McArthur, Katie Laverty and Áine Magill all regulars on the senior county team and Magill’s younger sisters, Brónach and Bríd, All-Ireland winners with the junior team last year.
The game could go either way in truth and should be a good watch.
Loughgiel are the team to beat of course and they take on the new kids on the block, Brídíní Óga, who took the All-Ireland junior title last year.
The Glenravel girls are working hard to bridge the very wide gap to senior club standard in the county and will do the same on Sunday.
However Loughgiel have just too much experience, ability and team-work and will take their third win in the group.
