THE Sacred Heart, Newry team finished overall winners of the Celine McAteer Shield after Thursday's final blitz at Our Lady's and St Patrick's, Knock.

Twenty-four schools started off in this new Ulster schools' camogie competition and through a series of blitzes that number was whittled down to four on Thursday – Sacred Heart, the hosts Knock, St Dominic's Belfast and Gleann na Ró.

The new shield was presented in memory of Celine McAteer, who worked hard for the promotion of camogie in Our Lady's, Newry up until her untimely death a few years ago.

It was presented by her twin sister Anne to Daisy Tumilty, captain of Sacred Heart.

Anne felt that Celine would have enjoyed the irony that the first winners were the "other" Newry school.
