MARK Allen is out of the BetVictor German Masters after losing 5-2 to John Higgins in the last 16 yesterday.

Allen had beaten the Scot in a deciding frame at last month’s Masters but he couldn’t repeat the win in Berlin. Breaks of 76 and 103 put Higgins 3-0 up, and although Allen closed the gap to 3-2, Higgins pulled away again and closed the match out with a break of 69.

Also through to the quarter-finals from yesterday afternoon’s play are Ryan Day, Ali Carter and Si Juahui.

The remaining four last-16 games took place last night, with the quarter-finals today, semis tomorrow and the final on Sunday.
