MARK ALLEN edged into round two of the BetVictor German Masters at the Tempodrom in Berlin on Monday night with a 5-4 victory over Manasawin Phetmalaikul of Thailand.

The match was one of a handful of round-one games held over for the final stages of the event and played on the opening day and the world number three had to battle from 4-3 down to book a last-64 clash with England’s Louis Heathcote, a break of 100, the highest of the match, giving him the deciding frame.

Other notable results on day one saw World champion Luca Brecel (5-2 v Ishpreet Singh Chadha of India), Mark Selby (5-1 v Marco Fu) and Shaun Murphy (5-3 v Xu Si) all eliminated.

Three Irish players join the action in round two on Tuesday. Cork’s Aaron Hill takes on Yuan Sijun in the morning, while Jordan Brown (v David Gilbert) and Ken Doherty (v Julien Leclercq) play in the evening session.
