MARK Allen and Aaron Hill will meet in round two of the Unibet British Open in Cheltenham on Tuesday after they both won deciding frames on Monday

World number three Allen, whose run to the quarter-finals of the BetVictor English Open in Brentwood last week included 4-3 wins over Long Zehuang and John Higgins, beat Gary Wilson to progress to round two.

Wilson was the heavier scorer throughout with his frame successes coming courtesy breaks of 78, 50 and 97, and while Allen had no visits over 50, he was still never behind in the game.

Cork man Hill enjoyed one of the best wins of his career as he took out Ding Junhui, also in a deciding frame.

The world number 63 fell 2-0 behind to the former UK and Masters champion, but runs of 68 and 117 helped him move 3-2 ahead, and although Ding forced a decider with an 86, the 22-year-old Hill held his nerve to progress.
