Mark Allen now faces Jack Lisowski for a place in the quarter-finals

MARK Allen was in blistering form as he reached the last 16 of the BetVictor Scottish Open in Edinburgh on Wednesday.

The world number five, who now faces Jack Lisowski on Thursday, beat Ryan Day 4-2 in a high-class encounter.

All six frames were won with a break of 60-plus, with Allen opening with a 104 only to fall 2-1 behind to breaks of 122 and 60 from the Welshman.

However, Day managed only 13 points in the remaining three frames as breaks of 127, 78 and 103 helped the Antrim man over the line.

Lisowski was in equally fine form as he destroyed world number 13 Si Jiahui 4-0. Breaks of 67, 60 and 101 had him 3-0 up before he also claimed frame four despite a break of 52 from Si.

Allen and Lisowski last met just 12 days ago at the UK Championship in York, where Allen came from 3-1 down to win 6-3 in a quarter-final match.

World champion Kyren Wilson was the biggest name to fall on Wednesday, beaten 4-2 by Stephen Maguire.
