ROBBIE McGuigan won his second successive deciding frame to move into round three of the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters on Saturday.
Victory over China’s Ma Hailong has guaranteed the 20-year-old Antrim rookie £7,000 in prize money from the lucrative event and on Sunday (12pm) he will get the chance to up that by another £4,000 and move into the last 48 when he faces world number 26 Chris Wakelin, who was runner-up in last year’s Bet Victor Northern Ireland Open.
McGuigan hasn’t been ahead in either of his two matches to date until winning those deciding frames and he saved his highest break of the week so far, a run of 90, to get over the line against world number 72 Hailong.
Aaron Hill of Cork was a 4-2 loser against England’s Allan Taylor, while Ken Dohery was edged out 4-3 by Liam Davies of Wales on Friday evening.
McGuigan’s Antrim club-mate Jordan Brown is also in action on Sunday (6pm), against Bulcsu Revesz of Hungary.
