Manchester United’s Premier League demise “will get worse before it gets better” after their latest defeat, according to Alan Shearer.
United slipped to their 11th loss of the season and their fifth at Old Trafford when losing 2-0 on Sunday to Crystal Palace.
They have failed to win back-to-back league games under Ruben Amorim and dropped back to 13th place in the table.

Shearer told the Rest Is Football podcast: “Palace were worthy of their win and I can still see it getting worse at Old Trafford before it gets better.
“They’re just not good enough. They’re miles away from being competitive, particularly in the way (Amorim) wants to play.”
Shearer feels Amorim’s side will avoid “the worst” and not get dragged into a relegation battle and that the Portuguese must be given until next season to rebuild the squad.
The former England striker said: “Because the problems in the club are so deep-rooted, it’s not going to be a quick fix and he has to be given this transfer window, the rest of the season and then the window in the summer to get his team.”

Shearer also believes Marcus Rashford’s loan move to Aston Villa was the best option for all parties and that the United forward has the chance to silence his critics.
“It’s a real pivotal point now for Rashford. (Amorim) is not the only manager to throw questions at Rashford,” Shearer added.
“It’s best he gets out and it’s now up to him. He’s got the opportunity to get back to where he was years ago and stop all the talk about whether he’s got the right attitude and wants to play football enough.
“He’s had people criticise him, he thinks unfairly, but I don’t think everyone can be wrong in terms of the manager’s who’ve had a pop, so he’s now got the chance to get his career back on track.”
