IN the second day of festive Premier League fixtures, Arsenal take on Ipswich Town at the Emirates hoping to get back on track after a few mixed results of late.
The Gunners can leapfrog fellow title challengers Chelsea into second place in the league after their late slip against Fulham on St Stephen’s Day.
Currently sitting in fourth place behind Liverpool, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest, Mikel Arteta’s side can be confident as they face a struggling Ipswich side, who are adrift at 19th in the table.
Arsenal are without loanee Raheem Sterling after the winger missed out on their 5-2 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park with a knee injury and it was confirmed by Mikel Arteta that he would miss “a few weeks”.
Bukayo Saka has also been ruled out for the next while after a torn hamstring ended his putting against the Eagles early and he was seen leaving South London on crutches.
Long-term absentees Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasuare still ruled out.
However, Arsenal fans will welcome the return to training of Oleksandr Zinchenko, the Ukrainian left-back has missed 14 games for club and country this season through injury.
Zinchenko was a welcome sight at London Conley for Gooners when he reported to training ahead of the clash with the Tractor Boys on Friday evening.
For Ipswich, Massimo Luongo remains a doubt with illness and could miss out, Sam Morsy has also been sidelined after receiving a fifth yellow card of the season against Newcastle.
Kalvin Phillips returned against Newcastle and may serve as Morsy’s replacement in the starting XI.
Ipswich’s top scorer Liam Delap has just served a one-game ban and will be back in the squad against Arsenal.
Also, Irish international Chiedozie Ogbene, George Hirst, Janoi Donacien, and Axel Tuanzebe are all currently expected to miss the Arsenal game through injury.
