BALLINAMALLARD boss Mark Stafford underlined his ‘pride’ in his players as a 4-0 home win over Bangor - who had started the day top of the table - highlighted the topsy turvy nature of the Playr-Fit Championship.

A Danny Barker double - on eight and 34 minutes - along with second half goals from Dean Corrigan and Darragh Stewart did the trick for the Mallards.

Former Linfield defender Stafford, whose side are in eighth, said: “I’m delighted for everyone at the club. It’s been a difficult start to the season.

“The plan was not to worry too much about Bangor but to cause them problems. The players were outstanding - I’m just so proud of each and every one of them.

“It was a huge result for us – we were playing a team who had won six on the bounce. And we still have a few players out.”

The Welders returned to pole position on goal difference from Bangor, getting back on track after last week’s 5-0 humbling at home to Limavady with a 4-1 triumph over Newington at Larne’s Inver Park, Josh Kee weighing in with a brace.

Limavady followed up that five-star performance with a 1-0 defeat against Stephen Small’s Ballyclare Comrades at the Showgrounds.

Armagh City had an excellent 1-0 victory over Dundela at Wilgar Park, Institute beat Newry City 2-0 at the Brandywell, while Ards and Annagh drew 1-1 at Clandeboye Park.
