BRENTFORD have the chance to jump up the table in Friday’s Premier League clash with Brighton as the last of the festive season’s games are played out.
The AMEX Stadium plays host to this fixture as Brighton look to move level on points with struggling Manchester City, who lie in seventh place in the Premier League.
However, Brentford will be out to take their 10th spot in the table with an away win at the coastal city.
The Bees come into this game after a run of three successive defeats, the latest of which came in a 2-0 home loss against Nottingham Forest, who have impressed this season by challenging for European football.
Brighton and Hove Albion have had a similar run of form, having not picked up three points in their last five games, only managing three draws against West Ham, Leicester and Southampton.
Brighton head coach Fabian Hürzeler said that Adam Webster and Solly March could be part of the matchday squad on Friday however Danny Welbeck will not be risked.
He hopes Mats Wieffer’s leg injury “is not too serious”, while all the other players came through last Saturday’s West Ham draw game unscathed.
Jan Paul van Hecke, who was accidentally kicked in the head by team-mate Carlos Baleba, “has some swelling but will be fine”.
Ahead of Friday’s game, Brentford head coach Thomas Frank confirmed that Ethan Pinnock will still be out for “weeks” with his hamstring injury, while Sepp van den Berg’s issue is “minor” but the turnaround for Brighton is too short for both him and Mathias Jensen.
He also confirmed that Kristoffer Ajer will also be out for a number of weeks after picking up an ankle injury.
Rico Henry and Aaron Hickey remain out with long-term injuries.
