Finn Harps 1-0 Kerry FC

IN the SSE Airtricity League First Division, teenager Sean Patton scored on his debut as Finn Harps chalked up a 1-0 victory over Kerry FC in Ballybofey.

The 17-year-old striker was signed on loan during the week from Derry City - where he has made five first team appearances this season - and he made an instant impact at Finn Park.

Patrick Ferry threaded a super pass through for Patton to run onto in the 36th minute and he slotted the ball through the legs of the advancing Aaron O’Sullivan.

The win for the Donegal side sees them move up one place to fourth.

Harps were good value for their victory with Ferry going close on a couple of occasions in the first half while Success Edogan fired narrowly wide.

After the break, Darren Murphy’s side created the better chances with 16-year-old Gavin McAteer - who signed a three year contract on Wednesday - almost scoring on his full home debut while Noa Baba had an opportunity to double their tally but headed straight at O’Sullivan.

Kerry’s best chance fell to Ronan Teahan who hit the post in the first half.
