DUNDELA produced a stunning comeback against Institute at Wilgar Park to emerge as promotion candidates from the Playr-Fit Championship.
The Brandywell-based visitors raced into a 3-0 lead within half an hour before David McMaster bagged the first of his double before the break.
Karter Bond made it 3-2 with 11 minutes remaining, McMaster levelled with his second goal three minutes later and the experienced Mark Patton snatched a dramatic last-minute winner.
The fifth-placed Duns are eight points behind leaders Bangor but with a game in hand – which if won would fire Stephen Gourley’s men into second spot. Currently Limavady are six points adrift in second.
Lee Feeney’s Seasiders – who beat Championship rivals Annagh United 3-0 in the Clearer Water Irish Cup to set up a mouth-watering quarter-final against Glentoran at Clandeboye Park – host Cliftonville legend Stephen Small’s Ballyclare Comrades on Tuesday night.
Dundela’s Wilgar Park ground was previously deemed unsuitable for the Sports Direct Premiership but it is understood the famous old east Belfast club would consider a groundshare arrangement in order to make the step up.
