LARNE captain Cian Bolger was overjoyed that the east Antrim men had retained the title - but admitted every match had been a tough test.
The club had virtually wrapped up the title with a 1-1 draw against Linfield at Windsor Park last Monday night and signed off in emphatic style by crushing Coleraine 5-0 on Saturday at Inver Park.
Bolger said: “We are proud and delighted to retain the title - it wasn’t easy, every match has been a challenge. It’s been a long hard season and we are just happy to have got over the line.”
Michéal Glynn, Andy Ryan, two Paul O’Neill goals and a Scott Allan effort did the damage for Larne, who can now look forward to hosting Champions League football at Inver Park after having to play at Solitude last time as their pitch failed a Uefa inspection.
Cliftonville drew 1-1 with Linfield at Windsor Park in a dress rehearsal for Saturday’s Clearer Water Irish Cup final.
Stephen’s Baxter’s final regular season match as boss of Crusaders ended in a 4-0 defeat by Glentoran.
Carrick Rangers nabbed the European play-off spot by beating Glenavon 2-1.
Carrick will go to Crusaders in the play-off semi-finals while Coleraine travel to Glentoran.
Dungannon Swifts beat Ballymena United 3-0 - the Braidmen face Institute in the promotion/relegation play-off - and relegated Newry City lost 4-1 to Loughgall.
