Marti Cifuentes has urged QPR to keep pushing for the play-offs after they arrested their recent slide with a 2-1 win over Blackburn.

Veteran midfielder Jack Colback climbed off the bench to thump home the winner as Rangers bounced back from two straight defeats.

“I’m very pleased, not only about the win but because it was important to come back after two defeats in a row,” said head coach Cifuentes.

“It was important for us emotionally to come back and get a good win at home against a good team.

“I’m very pleased for Jack and the minutes he played, and the level he played, as well as the goal.”

Despite their recent dip Rangers are only three points adrift of the top six.

“The players need to keep pushing because nothing is decided,” added Cifuentes.

Michael Frey had headed Rangers ahead after only five minutes, but Rovers thought they had secured a point through Tyrhys Dolan’s second-half penalty after Koki Saito’s clumsy challenge on Callum Brittain.

However, Colback’s thunderbolt 14 minutes from time put a dent in Blackburn’s play-off bid, although they remain fifth,.

Rovers boss John Eustace was unhappy with his side’s defending for the winner, which goalkeeper Aynsley Pears got both hands to but could not prevent from flying into the roof of the net.

“I’m very disappointed we lost the game,” he said. “It was a tough game, we got ourselves back into it, so to lose with another soft goal is really disappointing.

“We weren’t good enough at the start. The second half we started really well, we got back into the game and I thought we could have gone on and won it. The manner of the second goal is very disappointing.,

“We have to react to the second phase and we could have saved it as well. We have to put bodies on the line to keep the ball out of the net.”

None of Rovers’ three deadline-day signings –  Emmanuel Dennis from Nottingham Forest, Braga’s Yuri Ribeiro and Cauley Woodrow from Luton – featured at Loftus Road.

But Eustace hopes they can give his side a boost over the second half of the season.

He added: “The club have worked very hard to bring in their targets and I’m sure they’ll be excellent signings for us.”
