NEWRY City stunned runaway Playr-Fit Championship leaders Bangor at the Showgrounds on Friday night, a Ryan McNickle first-half double helping Darren Mullen’s relegation battlers to a shock 2-1 victory.

Michael Morgan pulled a goal back in the second half but Newry – relegated from the Sports Direct Premiership at the end of last season – were good value for their victory.

Saturday’s match of the day sees second-placed Limavady – Irish Cup conquerors of champions Larne – hosting fourth-placed Dundela, who although 11 points adrift of Bangor do have three matches in hand. The Roesiders are nine points off the pace with a game in hand.

The Welders, in third, are at home to Ballinamallard; Ards and Armagh City clash at Clandeboye Park; Ballyclare Comrades welcome Institute; and Newington host Annagh United at Larne’s Inver Park. All Saturday’s matches kick off at 3pm.
