NORTHERN Ireland secured their second win of the Euro 2025 qualifying campaign as they picked up a 2-0 away victory against Malta to seal a play-off place.

The game’s opening goal came after nine minutes when Emma Lipman put through her own net attempting a back-pass to her goalkeeper Patricia Ebejer, who had moved out of her goal.

Tanya Oxtoby’s side carried that advantage into the half-time break but it wasn’t until 10 minutes from time that the points were secured.

Rebecca McKenna fired in a superbly accurate cross and Kerry Beattie was on hand in the box to head home low to the bottom corner of the net for her first international goal in a starting shirt, her fourth in 11 appearances.

With the momentum on the side of the visitors, they piled on the pressure in search of a third goal and while they couldn’t find the Malta net again, they did enough to secure an important and impressive win.

The win sees Northern Ireland climb to second place in the Group B3 table, just behind league leaders Portugal. They will finish their campaign with a clash against Bosnia and Herzegovina, who also sit on seven points after five games, on Tuesday night.
