Cliftonville defender Michael Newberry has died suddenly at the age of 27.
The English defender joined the club in the summer and made 24 appearances for the Reds.
Newberry, who started his career with hometown club Newcastle United, also had a spell in Iceland with Vikingur before he joined Linfield in 2021.
The former Northern Ireland Under-21 international spent three years with the Blues, winning two Irish Premiership titles.
Cliftonville's game against Dungannon Swifts and Linfield's match with Larne on Monday night have both been postponed.
In a statement posted on the club's website, Cliftonville said they were "devastated".

PLAYR-FIT Championship clubs have paid tribute to Cliftonville defender Michael Newberry who has died suddenly at the age of 27.

Newington, who beat Brandywell-based Institute 2-0 at Larne’s Inver Park in the Monday afternoon match, led the way posting: “Deepest condolences to everyone at Cliftonville & all of Michael’s family & friends. Heartbreaking news, may he rest in peace.”

Darren Stuart and Gerard Storey grabbed the goals in a win which hauled the north Belfast side off the foot of the table – before Newry City’s 1-1 draw with Armagh City at the Showgrounds lifted Darren Mullen’s men above the Swans on goal difference.

Limavady cut Bangor’s lead at the top to six points, the Roesiders beating Ballinamallard 2-1 at the Showgrounds on Monday night, while the Seasiders lost 4-3 in a thriller at Annagh.

The Welders beat Ballyclare Comrades 3-1 at Blanchflower Stadium.

Ards take on Dundela at Clandeboye Park on New Year’s Eve (3pm).
