DERRY City will want to go into their last third of the League of Ireland Premier Division in a positive fashion considering that they are two points behind Shelbourne in the top spot, despite Damien Duff’s side having a game in hand.

The Candystripes of Brandywell will be optimistic going into this fixture given that they are unbeaten in their last five games and have lost only twice in their last 16 outings, with their only defeats coming against fourth-place Shamrock Rovers.

John Russell’s Sligo Rovers are also in form, having seen off reigning champions Shamrock Rovers last Friday night, so Higgins is expecting another tough evening at the office.

Sligo has been a difficult place to go to for the Brandywell men in recent seasons, with Ronan Boyce’s late strike securing a 2-1 win in City’s last victory at the Showgrounds way back in 2021.

What time is kick-off?

The game will kick off at the Showgrounds in Sligo at 7.45pm on Thursday, July 4.

Where can I watch it?

The match is not on television, however, the game will be streamed on League of Ireland TV, the native streaming service for all Irish domestic football, with the match available to be bought for €7 at https://www.loitv.ie/en-int/livestream/sligo-rovers-v-derry-city/1765249.

Alternatively, you can buy a half-season pass for €60 so you don’t miss any of the League of Ireland fixtures.

Team News

Higgins confirmed that that squad will be similar to the one which saw off Drogheda United last Friday night, with striker Colm Whelan again expected to be involved.
