Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor wants her side to channel their ‘winner’s DNA’ again when the Women’s Super League leaders head to struggling Leicester looking to set a new record.
The Blues have won all 14 of their matches this season under new boss Bompastor as they chase silverware on two fronts – crushing Twente 6-1 at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night to maintain a perfect Champions League group campaign so far with one round left.
Bompastor takes her team to the King Power Stadium on Saturday with the chance to better Arsenal’s record of nine straight wins at the start of a WSL season, which Chelsea equalled with a 4-2 victory over Brighton last weekend.

Leicester are languishing in 11th place, off the bottom only on goal difference, after a run of four straight league defeats without scoring, but did return to form with a dominant 5-2 victory over Birmingham in the League Cup on Wednesday night.
Bompastor insists Chelsea cannot lose focus as they look to head into the winter break with a perfect 10 WSL record.
“The players are really competitive, they want to perform in every game, so on that point, we are on the same page,” said Bompastor, who took over from Emma Hayes in the summer.
“It is more like every game matters and every game is three points, so we want to continue in our good momentum, in our run, that is the mentality we have to have.
“We have to be ready from the beginning of the game, mentally and physically ready to play with high intensity.
“It is part of our DNA to just want to win every game, but also making sure we perform in all the game from the beginning until the end.
“No matter who we play, we just want to focus on ourselves, making sure we perform and we win the games.”
Bompastor added: “We expect a tough game. Leicester will be fighting to put us under trouble.
Great performance, Foxes! 🦊

“I know (Leicester manager) Amandine (Miquel) and she will give everything – that is also their mentality, to fight until the end.
“She always tries to surprise me with something on the game, so I am ready for that.”
Chelsea will check on midfielder Oriane Jean-Francois, who went off just before half-time against Twente.
Forward Sandy Baltimore continues to manage a knee issue, but could return for next week’s final Champions League group game against Real Madrid.
For one final time in 2024 👊

Tottenham finish the year with a trip to Brighton at the the Broadfield Stadium, where Robert Vilahamn’s side will be looking for a fourth straight win in all competitions.
Spurs booked their place in the quarter-finals of the League Cup on Wednesday night with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace to finish top of the group.
Vilahamn hopes to take positive momentum into the winter break, with Spurs then not back in action until the FA Cup tie at Everton on January 12.
“If you go into a break with four wins in a row, you are going to have a long time where you will feel like you will be unbeatable and that will be good for confidence,” Vilahamn told a press conference.
“That break will do more for us to make sure we regroup, work harder, train harder and work on details.”
Sweden international Amanda Nilden could return after missing the Palace game through illness.
