PAUL Kee insists his Welders players are keeping feet firmly on the ground despite their excellent start to the season.
The Welders turned up the heat on their title rivals by hammering Armagh City 5-0 at the Blanchflower Stadium to power clear at the top of the Playr-Fit Championship.
Doubles from Ewan McCoubrey and Tiarnan O’Connor did the damage – Lewis Mearns completing the scoring – as the east Belfast side moved two points clear of Limavady United, who drew 0-0 with Newington at Larne’s Inver Park.
Kee said: “The mood is good and confidence is good. We are scoring goals and defending well. The goals are being shared around the team.
“It’s always nice to be winning but it’s early in the season with the winter months just around the corner,” he added.
A Brian Healy hat-trick secured a 3-2 win for Ballyclare Comrades over Ards at Dixon Park.
Newry City went down 1-0 at Annagh United and Institute were 2-1 winners away to Ballinamallard, while on Friday night Bangor beat Dundela 3-1 at Clandeboye Park.
